51 42 000 Removing and installing rear left or right door trim panel

CAUTION: Dismantle screw for lock retainer (malfunction if actuating rod is bent).

Remove cap (1).

Lift out locking unit and pull button (2) upwards to remove.

Installation:

Check gap (A) between cap (1) and guide (2).

(A) = 14.5 +/- 1 mm.

If necessary, remove button and adjust sleeve (3).

Version with sun roller blind on side window:

Unfasten top of sun roller blind (1) and lift upwards and backwards (2) to remove.

Version with sun roller blind on side window:

Unscrew screw.

Lift out footwell light and toggle switch (window regulator) and remove both connectors.

Lift out finisher (1) and unfasten screw.

Unclip door trim panel all around.

Pull door trim panel upward out of clips and push door opener (1) through door trim panel.

Version with sun roller blind on side window:

Installation:

Pull the side roller blind upwards off door trim before assembly.

Perform a function check on side roller blind.

Remove door clips.

Installation:

Fit clips in door trim panel.

Installation:

If necessary, replace damaged clips.

Cars with roller sun blinds on side windows:

Remove door cavity seal fixed inside window by lifting upwards.

Cars without roller sun blinds on side windows:

Remove window cavity seal fixed inside window by lifting upwards.
