51 31 ... Notes on gluing windshield and rear window (Protection): General:

Windows made from bulletproof laminated glass are installed in the Protection.

The windshield and rear window are glued to the body. This gluing will increase the torsional strength of the vehicle. In order to obtain a perfect bond, you must follow the installation procedure described below.

It is possible to tow or drive the vehicle without a front or rear window.

After installation, the window glass must be secured with yellow plastic adhesive tape (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service); the paint must therefore be completely hardened after painting work.

• In winter, the vehicles must be kept in a room with a minimum temperature of 15°C.

When working with adhesive products (glue, cleaning agent, glass primer etc.):

• Wear protective goggles, protective gloves and, if necessary, aprons.
• Ensure rooms are well ventilated.
• Change work clothing which has been contaminated with adhesive immediately.
• Change work clothing which has been contaminated with solvents and swelling agents immediately (always keep a spare change of work clothing).
• Take skin protection precautions, provide washing facilities with hot water, use skin creams that do not contain silicone.
• Keep eye baths on hand, change water regularly (once a month).
• Observe all relevant safety regulations.
• Do not eat, drink or smoke in areas where PUR is being processed.
