Axle Carrier Assembly: Installation

  1. Replace damaged threaded bolts, if necessary.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace self-locking nuts. Damaged threads in bushings on body side can be repaired with Helicoil thread inserts. These inserts must be fitted flush with the original thread. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. When installing eccentric bolt on trailing arm, note insertion direction of bolt. F is direction of travel. Fit eccentric washer (2). See Figure. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. When installing shock absorber to trailing arm bolt, thrust washer (2) on rubber mount must point to screw head. See Figure.
