12 42 520 Removing and installing or replacing positive battery wire (between alternator and positive battery support point on cylinder head cover) (M73)

Observe safety instructions for handling vehicle battery.

Remove battery negative line.

Remove complete left intake filter housing.

Unfasten nut.

Unfasten screws. Remove positive battery terminal with bracket.

Remove bracket with tank vent valves.

Remove tank vent valves (1 and 2) from bracket.

Remove lead (1).

Installation:

Unfasten cable connector.

Remove centre of splash guard.

Disconnect alternator connections.

Fig 7: Disconnecting Alternator Connections

Connections illustrated here on removed alternator.

Unfasten plug connection (1).

Unfasten nut (2).

Tightening torque, refer to ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Remove positive battery line.
