54 12 242 Removing and installing both drive cables for glass sliding/tilting sunroof actuation: Installation:

If necessary, apply light coat of Renax GL1 (Fuchs) grease to guide duct. Removing and installing bellows for glass sliding/tilting sunroof on left and right, see 54 12 015 REPLACING BELLOWS FOR GLASS SLIDING/TILTING SUNROOF, LEFT OR RIGHT  .

Removing and installing wind deflector, see 54 12 496 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING WIND DEFLECTOR  .

Removing and installing water channel for glass sliding/tilting sunroof, see 54 12 138 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING WATER CHANNEL FOR GLASS SLIDING/TILTING SUNROOF  .

Removing and installing drive unit with transmission for sliding/tilting sunroof actuation, see 67 61 510 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING DRIVE WITH GEAR FOR ACTUATING SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF .

Release screws and remove tube clamp (1) on left/right.

Secure tube guide (1) with screw (2) on left/right.

Slide support (1) on left/right (for glass sliding/tilting sunroof lid, front) forwards/inwards out of guide duct.

Slide support (1) for bellows on left/right forwards out of guide duct.

Pull lid mechanism on right completely back until the nipple comes completely forward out of the guide duct on the left, then move mechanism forwards and in so doing feed drive cables out of left guide duct.

Move mechanism (1) on left/right back until side guide (2) for control lever is free.

Release screw (1) on left/right and remove side guide (2) for control lever for setting up inwards.

Move control rail (1) on left/right forwards until pin (2) is in opening (3).

Gently raise support (1) for glass sunroof lid on left/right and slide mechanism (2) forward until the guide (3) on setting lever (4) is in opening (5).

Turn support (1) for glass sunroof lid on left/right upwards until the guide (2) enters the opening (3).

Slide mechanism on left/right forwards until the pin (1) is positioned before the edge (2).

Lift linkage (1) on left/right out of slide (2) (support for water channel) and push slide (2) back approx. 5 mm.

Push setting lever (1) on left/right forwards. Slide control rail (2) on left/right forwards until the slide (3) emerges from the guide duct (4).

Raise slide (1) on left/right and slide back a little with control rail (2).

Push setting lever (1) on left/right back up to end of control rail (2) and turn front of control rail (2) upwards.

Turn slide (1) on left/right and remove from control rail (2) towards top.

Slide control rail (1) on left/right back and remove from setting lever (2).

If necessary, press down lock (1) on left/right and remove control rail (2) completely from setting lever (3).

Release screw (2) on tube guide (1) on left/right.

Push setting lever (1) on left/right forwards and guide nipple (2) up to end of tube guide (4).

Lift out tube guide (4) on left/right upwards/downwards.

When installing, if necessary insert nipple (2) in tube and secure tube guide (4) with screw.

Press tube guide (1) on left/right down a little and remove setting lever (2) forwards out of guide duct.

Slide nipple (1) of drive cable on left/right out of guide duct (2) completely.

Install tube clamp (1) on right and secure with screw (2).

Withdraw drive cable (1) towards rear from tube guide (2).

To insert, secure tube guide with screw (3). See Figure .

Using a screwdriver (1), press left tube guide (2) forwards a little and keep pressed.

Withdraw drive cable (1) towards rear from tube guide (2) and remove screwdriver (3).

Shorter drive cable (1) belongs in outer tube guide (2). Longer drive cable (3) belongs in inner tube guide (4).
