Removal (Transmission Side Joint)

NOTE: When replacing, use a complete CV joint boot repair kit. Kit will include a new boot, clamps, special lubricant and inner CV joint circlip.

Remove axle shaft. See DRIVE AXLE SHAFTS (FRONT, ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES) .
Clean axle shaft.
Grip axle shaft (1) in vise with protective jaws, wheel side joint (2) and transmission side (3). See Figure.
Release retainers (1, 2) and pull back gaiter (3). Detach tulip element (4). See Fig 1.
Remove retaining ring (1). Detach tripod star (2) from splined shaft (3). See Fig 2.
Carefully clean all parts with a cloth.
