Removal & Installation (M Coupe, M Roadster & Z3)

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air bag/steering wheel assembly. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Remove lower left instrument panel trim screw. See Fig 1. Remove instrument panel screw at center console. See Fig 2.
2. Unclip instrument panel bottom trim panel. See Fig 3. Remove screw and lower steering column cover. See Fig 4. Remove steering column upper trim. Remove screw attaching steering column switch retainer. Use a screwdriver to pry retainer off in downward direction. See Fig 5.
3. Compress retainers on both sides and pull out lever. See Fig 6. Detach wire straps, and disconnect electrical connector for combination switch. See Fig 7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure ground wire is attached to combination switch.
