12 14 550 Replacing control unit (Digital Motor Electronics) (M52, M60, M62)
CAUTION:
Follow instructions for removing and installing electronic control units, refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS

Switch off ignition.
Switch off ignition.
Unfasten screws.
Tightening torque: 4.4 N.m
Remove cover from control unit box.
Unfasten plug connection (1).
Remove control unit (2).
For subsequent procedure, refer to instructions in DIS tester.
Code control unit, refer to 12 14 700 CODING CONTROL MODULE (DME / DDE) .
Program control unit, refer to 12 14 705 PROGRAMMING CONTROL UNIT (DME / DDE) .
Read out fault memory of control unit of Digital Motor Electronics (DME).
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Now clear the fault memory.
