12 14 611 Replacing left knock sensors (cylinder bank 5 to 8) (M60, M62)

Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.

Switch off ignition.

Disconnect intake air manifold,

refer to 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD (M62) .

CAUTION: Mixing up the knock sensor plug connections will result in engine damage!
The wiring and plug connections must correspond to the original routing. This eliminates the risk of mix-ups.

Knock sensor (3) monitors combustion in cylinders 5 and 6.

Knock sensor (4) monitors combustion in cylinders 7 and 8.

Release screws.

Tightening torque, refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUE .

NOTE: Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Now clear the fault memory.
