51 41 000 Removing and installing door trim panel, front left or right (Protection)

Unfasten screw (1) in air duct.

If necessary lift out footwell light (2) and remove connector.

Version with seat memory:

If necessary, lift out memory switch (3) and remove connector.

Remove toggle switch (1) for side-window operation,

refer to 61 31 115 REPLACING ROCKER SWITCH FOR SIDE-WINDOW OPERATION .

Lift out seal cap (2) and unfasten screw.

Unclip door trim panel all around.

Pull door trim upwards out of door clip and slide door handle (1) through the door trim.

NOTE: Do not put down door trim panel. First detach wiring harness underneath protective mat.

Release knurled head screw (1) and open flap (2) of protective mat.

Detach wiring harness with soundproofing from door trim panel.

Installation 

  1. Do not get wiring harness caught in penetrations (3).

Remove door clip.

Installation 

  1. Install door clip in bracket of door trim.

Installation 

  1. Clips (1) are longer than the other clips.
  2. If necessary, replace damaged clips.

Installation 

After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:

  1. Open door window
  2. Close door
  3. Lock with vehicle key
  4. Check whether the linkage on the retaining knob can move freely.
  5. If necessary, dismantle door trim panels and align the linkage
  6. If necessary, mount door trim panel
  7. Repeat steps 1 to 4.
