Piston Rings

  1. Remove piston rings with piston ring compressing pliers. Put aside piston rings in correct sequence and installation position. New pistons may only be installed together with new piston rings.
    NOTE: It might not be possible to find identification on used piston rings.
  2. Insert piston rings with word TOP facing piston crown. See Fig 1 .
    • Ring No. 1: Plain Compression Ring
    • Ring No. 2: Stepped Taper-Face Ring
    • Ring No. 3: Three-Piece Steel Band Ring

  3. Arrange piston ring contact points with offset of about 120 degrees, but not over piston pin eye.
