Oil Pump: Removal

  1. Remove transmission. See BMW AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING. Remove torque converter. Set transmission upright. Mark oil pump mounting location for reassembly reference. Remove 9 oil pump-to-transmission case bolts.
  2. Install Extractor (24180) on converter support shaft. Turn spindle on extractor and press out oil pump. Lift out oil pump housing. Pry out oil seal. Remove "O" ring from around oil pump.
