Brake Booster: Installation

  1. Install swivel on new brake booster and adjust to same distance as noted in removal.
  2. Install brake booster. Swivel can be adjusted at this time. Distance from firewall to center of swivel head should be 5.591-5.669 inches (142-144 mm).
  3. Screw brake booster on pedal console. Replace self locking nuts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Make sure that all pipes and hoses are clean before connecting. Tighten return pipe with special tool (34 3 153) and pressure pipe with special tool (34 3 152). Both are in conjunction with a torque wrench. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install brake light switch.
  6. Install pedal connections and install dashboard trim.
  7. Connect brake pipes and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  8. Bleed brakes. Prior to model year 1994 see BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM WITH ABS/ASC+T WITH PLUNGER HYDRAULIC UNIT  . From model year 1994 see BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM WITH ABS/ASC+T (FROM MODEL YEAR 1994)  .
