12 13 009 Checking ignition coils (M73)

Switch off ignition.

Connect DIS Tester to diagnosis socket.

Select "Measurement".

Select "Preset measurements".

On cylinder bank 1-6, ignition oscilloscope is triggered by ignition lead of cylinder 1.

On cylinder bank 7-12, ignition oscilloscope is triggered by ignition lead of cylinder 7.

Disconnect spark plug connector on cylinder (1 or 7). Connect special tool 12 7 030 to spark plug and spark plug connector of cylinder (1 or 7). Do not connect ground cable.

Connect trigger pliers to special tool 12 7 030.

Remove ignition lead (terminal 4) from ignition coil (on corresponding cylinder bank) and fit special tool 61 2 010.

Connect KV pliers to special tool 61 2 010.
