12 xx xxx Removing and installing/replacing outer jacket for alternator (M73)
Remove and install alternator,
refer to 12 31 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ALTERNATOR (M73) .
Release screws (1).
Release screw (2).
Release screw (1).
Detach heat exchanger (2) for gear oil from connection on outer jacket for alternator.
Release screws (1).
Remove outer jacket for alternator.
Installation:
- Replace sealing ring (2).
Do not coat sealing ring with grease. Otherwise the sealing ring will expand (leakage problems).
Installation:
- Replace sealing ring (1).
CAUTION:
To avoid leakage problems, you must adhere to the following installation sequence:
- First install outer jacket for alternator
- then install alternator
