12 31 230 Removing and installing / replacing mounting block for alternator (M73)

Switch off ignition

Remove alternator,

refer to 12 31 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ALTERNATOR (M73) 

Unfasten cover of oil filter to enable engine oil left in oil filter to flow back into oil pan.

Installation: 

  1. Close cover on oil filter, check engine oil level and top up if necessary.

Unfasten nut (1) on alternator mounting block, note down installation position of oil lines and remove oil lines.

Mounting block, unfasten screws.

Installation: 

  1. Note length of screws! Long screws (1), short screws (2).

Installation: 

  1. Clean sealing face and replace gasket.

Installation: 

  1. Replace sealing rings on oil line flanges.

To facilitate assembly, always coat seals on oil lines with anti-friction agent. Carefully fit oil lines.

Note torsion protection (1) on oil lines in bracket.
