51 32 154 Adjusting door window glass, front left or right (Protection)

Remove door trim,

refer to 51 41 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DOOR TRIM PANEL, FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT (PROTECTION) .

If necessary, remove airbag module on front left or right door,

Connect toggle switch for power window to plug connection of door wiring harness.

Lower door window down to stop.

NOTE: To release or partially detach sound insulation, follow procedure in "Removing and installing/replacing sound insulation on front left or right door",

refer to 51 48... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN FRONT DOOR, LEFT OR RIGHT

Detach soundproofing at bottom only until screws at bottom are accessible and secure with adhesive tape.

Slacken clamping jaw (1) at rear and release clamping screw (2) at front.

Longitudinal adjustment:

Slide door window in open clamp jaws in longitudinal direction.

Vertical adjustment (parallelism):

Lift rear clamping jaw (door window must locate in lower jaws at this point) and tighten down screw. Tighten front clamping screw.

Tightening Torque, see 51 32 2AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 540i

Raise door window up to stop.

Check gaps (A) (door window front edge) and (B) (door window top edge). Measure window frame between door window edge and panel:

= 5.4 mm
= 10 mm

CAUTION: Disconnect toggle switch for power window from plug connection of door wiring harness.
