Tachometer/Fuel Economy Control Gauge Test

  1. Economy control will always display infinite consumption with engine at idle. Display should read close to zero when coasting or engine is off throttle. If not, ensure correct coding connector is used.
  2. If no display is present, ensure injection signal is present at instrument cluster connector pin No. 2 (Blue wire). Check connections for continuity. Change tachometer.
  3. If display needle wanders at idle, check for electrical interference. Disconnect Black wire from cluster connector and separate wire from harness. Run wire on outside of harness and test.
  4. If display needle wanders when headlight or turn signal switch is activated, dimmer relay is defective. Replace dimmer relay. Ensure a Diode Relay (61 31 1 373 154) is used.
