With Air Bags

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable and insulate terminal. Lift cap off lower steering column casing section and disconnect airbag connector. Using Screwdriver (00 2 110), remove 4 special screws holding airbag. Lift out airbag enough to pull off connector and remove airbag. Store airbag in a safe location facing up.
    CAUTION: DO NOT  pinch airbag trigger wires.
  2. Position steering wheel straight-ahead (steering gear and steering spindle marks aligned). Unscrew and remove nut and washer. Unlock steering lock and remove steering wheel.
    NOTE: Steering wheel cannot be removed until steering lock has been unlocked.
  3. Remove insulation panel under left side of dashboard and trim fasteners below instrument cluster. Remove trim.
  4. Remove screws attaching trim above instrument panel. Pull out trim. Pull out instrument cluster part way. Push slide lock up on wiring connector and unplug wiring from cluster. Remove cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure.
