Output Flange & Operating Shaft Oil Seal: Removal

  1. Remove exhaust system. Install Special Strap (261011) on drive coupling. Strap is used for removal and installation of propeller shaft to compress and align drive coupling.
  2. Tighten special strap until bolts can be removed by hand. Remove strap. Remove lower heat shield from rear transmission mount bracket. Remove center bearing bracket. Pull drive shaft down and out of the way.
  3. Support rear of transmission and remove transmission mount bracket. Hold output flange and remove collar nut. Remove output shaft flange. Remove oil seal. See Figure and Figure .
  4. With output shaft flange removed, engage 1st gear. Lift out operating shaft lock sleeve and drive out retaining pin (upward). Pry out radial oil seal.
