Hydraulic Pressure Test

  1. Pump pressure and torque converter pressure may be checked. Remove pressure tap plugs from pump pressure tap and torque converter pressure tap on transmission case. See Fig 1 . Connect pressure gauge to pump pressure tap and torque converter pressure tap.
  2. Start engine. Check hydraulic pressures in relation to shift lever position, gear and engine RPM. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST SPECIFICATIONS  table. Ensure pressures are within specification. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  3. Shut engine off. Remove pressure gauge. Reinstall plugs in pressure taps.

2nd 3rd & 4th Gear @ 4000 65-82 (448-565)
"R" Position @ 700-1000 RPM 157-185 (1082-1275)
Torque Converter Pressure
"D" Position In 4th Gear 10 (69) Max.
