Test No. 2 (Solenoid Valves)

  1. For 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th solenoid valves, check resistance between wires No. 1 and 16. Resistance should be 25-46 ohms. If resistance exceeds specification, check wire to solenoid valve for damage or ground. If resistance is okay specification, replace solenoid valve.
  2. For 2nd-3rd gear solenoid valves, check resistance between wires No. 1 and 25. Resistance should be 25-46 ohms. If resistance exceeds specification, check wire to solenoid valve for damage or ground. If resistance is okay, replace solenoid valve.
NOTE: Specified resistance values for solenoid valves and pressure regulator should be measured with transmission fluid temperature greater than 68°F (20°C).
  3. For reverse gear lock solenoid valve, disconnect ECU electrical connector. Check resistance between wires No. 1 and 20. Resistance should be 25-46 ohms. If resistance exceeds specification, check wire to solenoid valve for damage or ground. If resistance is okay, replace solenoid valve.
  4. For torque converter lock-up clutch solenoid valve, check resistance between wires No. 5/19 and 1/25. Resistance should be 25-46 ohms. If resistance is high, check wire to solenoid valve for damage or ground. If resistance is okay, replace solenoid valve.
