Removal (5-Series & 6-Series)
- Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove wheel assemblies. Remove engine splash guard. Remove brake calipers and secure out of way.
- Disconnect ground wire and brake pad wear indicator from left brake assembly. Remove wiring from left strut tube. Disconnect steering linkage from steering gear arm. Remove steering gear mount bolts and hang steering gear.
- Disconnect strut rods and remove stabilizer bar brackets. Remove engine mount-to-axle carrier nuts. Loosen top of right engine mount. On 6-series, partially drain radiator and disconnect top radiator hose from engine.
- Attach engine sling and suspend engine with hoist. Support axle carrier using floor jack. Remove nuts from top of strut assemblies. Remove axle carrier bolts and carefully lower front suspension assembly.
