Removal (3-Series)
- Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove wheel assemblies. Disconnect ground wire and brake pad wear indicator from left brake assembly. Remove wiring from left strut tube. Remove brake calipers and secure out of way.
- Remove steering gear shaft pinch bolt and disconnect steering shaft. Disconnect power steering lines from steering gear box and plug openings. Remove lower control arm bracket bolts. Remove heat shield from right lower control arm bracket.
- Disconnect engine damper from axle carrier. Remove engine mount-to-axle carrier nuts. Loosen top of right engine mount. Attach engine sling and suspend engine with hoist. Support axle carrier with a floor jack. Remove nuts from top of strut assemblies. Remove axle carrier bolts and carefully lower front suspension assembly.
