Removal & Installation (1989 700 Series)

  1. Before proceeding further, follow the air bag service precautions. Refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable SRS. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Open glove box and remove compartment. Disconnect air bag unit retaining strap. Disconnect both Orange harness connectors from unit. Lift off cover or tray on top of dash panel. Remove 4 air bag retaining screws and remove air bag unit from dash.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedures. Be careful not to pinch wiring harness. Install and tighten screws to specification. See the TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  at the end of this article. Activate SRS. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
