Camshaft R & I: Engines: Removal

  1. Remove cylinder head. Mount Rocker Arm Compressor (11 1 060) on Cylinder Head Stand (00 1 490). Mount cylinder head on head fixture. Remove oil feed line. Adjust valve clearance of all valves to specification.
  2. Turn camshaft 15 degrees and mount Cam Remover (11 1 061). Push intake rocker arms of cylinders No. 2 and No. 4 forward. Align special tool in such a manner that tabs rest on eccentrics of rocker arms. Remove thrust plate. Pull out camshaft.
NOTE: To avoid contact between valve heads, tighten nuts on exhaust side to stop and then tighten intake side slightly. Check valve head clearance as procedure progresses.
