Brake Caliper

  1. Remove caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER  .
  2. Dismantle brake caliper and remove brake pads.
    3. WARNING: 142 psi (10 bar) of compressed air produces a force of approximately 275 lbs. (1250 N). Keep fingers clear of moving parts.
  3. Press out piston with compressed air applied through connection bore. To protect the piston, fit a protective plate (hardwood, hard felt or similar) in the caliper duct. See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove sealing ring carefully with a plastic needle. See Fig 2 .
  5. Check guide sleeves (5), installing guide sleeves from repair kit if necessary. See Fig 3 .
  6. Clean cylinder bores and parts with alcohol and dry with compressed air.
  7. Inspect cylinder bore, piston and flange surfaces thoroughly for damage. Machining of cylinders and pistons is not permitted.
  8. Apply light coat of brake cylinder paste to cylinder bore, piston, dust cover and sealing cover.
  9. Install sealing cover in rear annular groove of cylinder bore.
    10. CAUTION: Do not tilt piston.
  10. Fit dust cover to piston, insert sealing bulge in front groove of cylinder bore and press in piston using a hardwood board. See Fig 4 .
