Master Cylinder: Disassembly
- Remove master cylinder. See .
- Use repair kit.
- Apply light pressure on push rod piston. See Fig 1
.
- Lift out circlip and unscrew stop screw. Release push rod piston slowly and pull out.
- Remove secondary piston by knocking housing lightly on a piece of wood.
- Clean cylinder housing and other parts not included in the repair kit with alcohol and dry with compressed air.
- Tandem brake master cylinders with surface damage in the cylinder bore may not be reused.
- Check that all connecting, compensating and after running bores are clean.
- Give cylinder bore a very thin coat of brake cylinder paste.
- Remove large plug from assembly sleeve.
- Slide short neck part on to long neck pipe far enough that stop washer, secondary cup, plastic sleeve, circlip, seal, aluminum seal and silicone grease can be removed.
- Remove small plug.
