Brake Caliper: Disassembly
- Remove caliper. See CALIPER ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove pads from caliper. See DISC PADS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- While keeping fingers clear of piston bore, slowly apply air pressure to fluid inlet of caliper to force out piston. To protect the piston, fit a protective plate (hardwood, hard felt, or similar) in the caliper duct. See Fig 1 .
- Remove sealing ring carefully with a plastic needle. See Fig 2 .
WARNING:
142 psi (10 bar) of compressed air produces a force of approximately 275 lbs. (1250 N).
