Brake Caliper: Disassembly

  1. Remove caliper. See CALIPER ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove pads from caliper. See DISC PADS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. WARNING: 142 psi (10 bar) of compressed air produces a force of approximately 275 lbs. (1250 N).
  4. While keeping fingers clear of piston bore, slowly apply air pressure to fluid inlet of caliper to force out piston. To protect the piston, fit a protective plate (hardwood, hard felt, or similar) in the caliper duct. See Fig 1 .
  5. Remove sealing ring carefully with a plastic needle. See Fig 2 .
