Transmission Bearing Assemblies: Removal

  1. Remove input and output shaft assembly. Knock out grooved ball bearing with Special Tools (23 1 480) and (00 5 500). For layshaft, loosen circlip with Special Tools (23 1 270) and (00 5 500).
  2. Remove circlip and spacer. Knock out bearing shell with Special Tools (23 1 270) and (00 5 500). Remove selector shaft detent bolt and spring.
  3. Install Special Tool (23 1 250) to remove the selector shaft. Remove socket head bolt. Remove selector shaft from above.
  4. Remove output shaft bearing holder. Locking lever should remain on holder. Remove radial seal. Knock out grooved ball bearing with Special Tools (23 1 120) and (00 5 500).
  5. To remove layshaft bearing, install Special Tool (23 1 280) with thicker end inserted in the bearing shell. Install Special Tool (33 4 020) and screw in Special Tool (23 1 300). Pull out bearing shell.
