Output Flange & Sector Shaft Oil Seal: Removal

  1. Remove complete exhaust system. Install Special Strap Tool (26 1 011) on the Guibo coupling. This strap is used for removal and installation of propeller shaft to prevent stress in the Guibo coupling.
  2. Tighten Special Strap Tool (26 1 011) until bolts can be pulled out by hand. Remove strap. Remove lower heat shield attached to rear transmission mount bracket. Remove center bearing bracket. Pull propeller shaft down and out of the way.
  3. Support rear of transmission and remove transmission mount bracket. Install Special Tool (23 1 200). Counterhold output flange with Special Tool (23 1 150). Unscrew collared nut with Special Tool (23 1 210). Remove output flange. Remove radial oil seal with Special Tool (00 5 000).
  4. With output flange removed, engage 1st gear. Lift out selector shaft lock sleeve and drive out retaining pin (upward). Using an ice pick, pry out radial oil seal.
