Clutch C' & "C": Disassembly

  1. Insert assembly into a pipe with an inside diameter of 1.142" (29 mm) and clamp assembly in a vise. Remove centering plate. Remove outer disc (2 on some models), plates and 1-way clutch for brake C'. See Fig 1.

  2. Remove brake C' snap ring (if equipped). Remove end plate, discs and plates, noting number and arrangement for reassembly reference.
  3. Lift center support assembly off output shaft. Remove brake "D" snap ring. Remove end plate, discs and plates, noting number and arrangement for reassembly reference.
  4. Place center support assembly on work bench. Using tool (24 2 030) compress diaphragm spring and remove split retaining ring. Turn assembly over and remove large snap ring. Remove diaphragm springs and place brake C' on bench and compress diaphragm. Remove split retaining ring.
  5. Apply compressed air to respective oil input hole to remove brake pistons. Remove and discard piston "O" rings and seals. Replace with new "0" rings and seals.
