Removal (3.2L)

  1. Drain engine oil and remove wire from oil level switch (if equipped). On 733i models, remove sway bar. On all models, remove power steering pump with hoses connected. Remove mounting bracket attached to oil pan and front cover.
  2. Remove alternator and bracket. Remove transmission bell housing cover. Remove engine mount bolts. Raise and support engine from above. Remove oil pan bolts.
  3. Lower pan and move toward front of engine. Turn crankshaft until No. 5 and No. 6 connecting rod are above crankcase sealing surface. Remove oil pan.
