Cylinder Head Removal
- Drain cooling system and disconnect battery ground cable. Remove upper radiator hose from thermostat housing. Remove air cleaner and carburetor(s). Remove valve cover and gasket.
- Remove spark plug wires and spark plugs. If vehicle is equipped with a heater, disconnect and remove hose and control cable. Remove by-pass hose.
- Remove intake and exhaust manifolds as previously described.
- Remove rocker shaft bracket nuts and lift off rocker assembly together with brackets.
- Remove push rods and keep them in order of removal. Remove cylinder head nuts and lift head straight up to prevent studs from binding.
