Camshaft Removal

  1. Drain transmission and remove engine as previously described.
  2. Disconnect and remove transmission.
  3. Remove rocker shaft and push rod as previously described.
  4. Remove front cover and timing gears. Remove distributor assembly and camshaft locating plate.
  5. Invert engine to allow tappets to fall clear from camshaft. Withdraw camshaft rotating it to clear distributor drive. Oil pump drive shaft may come out with camshaft.
  6. To install, reverse removal procedure.
    NOTE: Ensure oil pump driving flange is properly seated on oil pump drive shaft. Fit white side of camshaft locating plate toward camshaft.
