Camshaft Bearing Special Procedure

NOTE: It is necessary to complete all steps under Camshaft Removal. On manual transmission models only, remove transmission case and flywheel housing. On automatic transmission models only, remove both converter and converter cover.

When old bearings are punched out, new ones must be tapped into position. Bearings are easily damaged and use of service tool 18G-124A is recommended. Tool consists of a body with built in thrust race, screw wing nut, stop plate, "D" washer and handle. Tool is used in conjunction with special adaptors.
