ATF, Draining And Filling: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• : VAS 6617/1 
• Adapter :VAS 6617/12 
• Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit :SMN372500 
• Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit :VAS 6617 

Conditions

• The engine is off.
• Move vehicle onto a four-pillar workshop hoist or over a work pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
• "P" position is engaged.
• The parking brake button is pressed to activate the electro-mechanical parking brake.

Draining

-- Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit :SMN372500  underneath.

-- Perform the "ATF Level, Checking (Draining)" function using the Vehicle diagnostic tester . Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .

-- Remove the bolt -A- and drain the ATF.

-- Tighten the bolt -A-.

-- Clean the subframe crossbrace and remove any remaining ATF.

Filling

-- Remove bolt -B-.

-- Guide the Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit :VAS 6617  with the :VAS 6617/1  and Adapter :VAS 6617/12  into the hole.

-- Add 3.5 liters of ATF into the transmission.

Tip

The filling quantity may not be exceeded, as otherwise the oil systems could be mixed.

-- Perform the "ATF Level, Checking (Adding)" function using the Vehicle diagnostic tester . Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .

-- Tighten the bolt -B-.
