ATF Level, Checking: Procedure
-- Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
If there is no ATF or little ATF present in the transmission:
-- Add ATF. Refer to ATF, Draining and Filling .

-- Perform the "ATF Level, Checking" function using the Vehicle diagnostic tester . Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRY .
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit :SMN372500 underneath.
-- As soon as an ATF temperature of 35 °C (95 °F) is reached, remove the bolt -B-.
-- If necessary let any excess ATF run out.
Conditions
- If the ATF starts to drip out of the inspection and fill hole before it reaches the ATF temperature 45 °C (113 °F), then the ATF level is correct.
If no ATF escapes up to 45 °C (113 °F):
-- Switch off the engine and let the transmission cool down to 35 °C (95 °F).
-- Connect the Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit :VAS 6617 with :VAS 6617/1 and Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit - Adapter :VAS 6617/12 to the ATF check and fill hole.
-- Fill the transmission with a maximum of 0.5L of ATF using the hand pump.
Tip
The filling quantity may not be exceeded, as otherwise the oil systems could be mixed.
-- Repeat the "Check ATF level" procedure in its entirety.

-- Tighten the bolt -B-. The ATF level test is now completed.
