Safety Precautions When Working On Air Conditioning System

There is a risk of explosions because of ignition sources.

Risk of explosion due to ignition sources near A/C systems and refrigerant canisters. Leaking refrigerant can ignite and cause an explosion. Severe bodily injury or death due to explosions is possible.

 

Risk of suffocation and poisoning from refrigerant

Refrigerant fumes can cause problems ranging from a dry cough and nausea to asphyxiation and poisoning. Refrigerant is heavier than air and accumulates in low-lying areas.

 

There is a risk of frostbite from refrigerant.

Refrigerant can escape under pressure when working on the A/C system. Frostbite of skin and other parts of the body possible.
