Seals And Gaskets

- Check sealing surfaces of the seals and gaskets for burrs or damage and thoroughly clean before installing.
- Check seals and gaskets for damage before installing.
- Always install clean seals and gaskets. If contact is made with unacceptable media (residual oils, greases, skin protection creams, etc.), these may swell up and leak.
- The respective overview specifies whether seals and gaskets need to be replaced. If there is no overview available, these components are always to be replaced after removal.
- Pay attention to the correct seating of the gaskets on the lines and in the groove.
Unless otherwise specified:
- Only coat gaskets with the corresponding medium (oil, coolant, refrigerant oil, etc.) for installation.
Shaft seals:
- Lightly coat the shaft seal on the outer diameter with oil before installing.
- The open side on the shaft seals faces the fluid to be sealed off.
- Certain shaft seals (e.g. PTFE) must be installed dry. Pay attention to the repair information for this.
- For shaft seals in the transmission area, fill the space between the sealing lips -arrow- halfway with radial shaft seal sealing grease.
