Pinion, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Spur gear unit output gear. Refer to OUTPUT GEAR OF THE SPUR GEAR UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the differential with ring gear. Refer to Differential, Removing and Installing  .

-- Remove the circlip -1-.

-- Remove the shim -2-.

-- Remove the pinion -3-.

-- Pull out the pinion -7- by turning the nut -2-. At the same time counterhold on the hex fitting -arrow A- of the spindle -1-.

• 1 -  Spindle from Puller (Kukko 18/2) :VAS 251 419 
• 2 -  Nut
• 3 -  Thrust bearing from Subframe Bushing Tool Kit :3301 
• 4 -  Press Piece - Front Wishbone :3160 
• 5 -  Support Bridge :2011 
• 6 -  Bearing Installer - Front Wheel Bearing :3110 
• 8 -  Nut
• 9 -  Washer

Conditions

• The total height of the nut -8- and washer -9- may not be over 12 mm -dimension a-.
• The spindle -1- and the nut -8- must not contact the clutch housing -arrow B-.

-- Remove the shim S₃ .
