Airbag Control Module J234, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the center console. Refer to Center Console, Removing and Installing .
-- Fold the carpet back in the area of the control module.
Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.
Risk of injury.
- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.
-- Release the safety ground lock -4- in -the direction of arrow A- and open the bracket -5- in -the direction of arrow B-.
-- Release and disconnect the connector.
-- Remove the nuts -3-.
-- Loosen the nut -1- using the Ratchet Ring Wrench Insert : VAS 262 015 .
Risk of damaging the airbag control module. If moisture enters the connectors, they will corrode.
- After disconnecting, cover or seal the control module connectors to prevent moisture from entering.
-- Release the control module -2- from the threaded pins and remove it outward toward the front passenger side.
