The ISO standard 26262 is an ISO standard for safety-related electric/electronic systems in vehicles. Fulfilling this standard is meant to guarantee the functional safety with electric/electronic components in the vehicle.
Safety-related wires which are allowed to be repaired
Safety-related wires which are allowed to be repaired are labeled with a "_s" -1- in the wiring diagram, at the end of the potential name. Due to increased security requirements, the repair is to be checked by a second person "four-eyes principle".
-- Identifying safety-related wires in the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
-- Perform the repair with all the approved Wiring Harness Repair Set :VAS 1978 .
-- Have the repair checked by a second person.
Safety-related wires which are not allowed to be repaired
Safety-related wires which are not allowed to be repaired are marked in the wiring diagram at the end of the potential name with a "_!" -1-. Due to raised security requirements no repair is permitted.
-- Identifying safety-related wires in the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
-- Replace the entire wires and install at their original installation position.
Condition
- Route the wires so they cannot be pinched or abraded.
- Secure the wires to the wiring harness approximately every 20 cm ties.
