Rear Lid, Adjusting

- Spring Force Measuring Device :VAS 895 035
- Measurement Foil :VAS 895 037
Condition
- When adjusting the rear lid, the vehicle must be resting on its wheels on a level surface.
- The rear lid must engage in the striker without great force.
The rear lid is correctly installed, when it is closed and:
- The gap dimensions are even.
- The contours align.
- The rear lid is not positioned too far inward or outward.
-- Adjust the side and length adjustment at hinge -1-. Refer to HINGES, ADJUSTING .
-- Adjust the height adjustment with the adjusting buffer -2-. Refer to SIDE ADJUSTING BUFFER, ADJUSTING .
-- Adjust the height adjustment on the striker -3-. Refer to Striker, Adjusting .
-- Check the Measurement Foil :VAS 895 037 for damage, wear and condition of the material and replace if necessary.
-- Position the measurement foil -B- at the adjusting buffer -2- vertical to the rear lid joint -1- and close the rear lid.
-- Hook the Spring Force Measuring Device :VAS 895 035 -A- on the measurement foil -B-.
-- Place the measurement foil -B- with the spring force -A- in one movement -arrow-.
Condition
- Specified value: 40 to 60 Nm
-- If the specified value is not reached or exceeded:
- Refer to Side Adjusting Buffer, Adjusting .
- Refer to Striker, Adjusting .
-- Repeat the procedure.
-- Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.
-- Check the gap dimensions with Gauge - Gap Adjustment :3371 . Refer to Rear Gap Dimensions .
