Requirement
- All procedures are to be carried out by hand without additional tools when servicing the thread.

1 - Drill Template
2 - M12x1.5 Fitting Bolt
3 - M14x1.5 Fitting Bolt
4.1 - Brass sleeve M12 (for special drill bit and mill for seating)

-- For rear wheel bearing housing thread M14 x 1.5:

Procedure
The description is given as an example for the rear brake caliper.
-- Remove the brake rotor:
- Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure the drilling template -1- with the respective fitting bolt -2-.
-- Slide the brass sleeve -A- onto the special drill bit -B- from behind -arrow 1- so that the special drill bit edges do not damage the brass sleeve.
-- Insert the special drill bit together with the brass sleeve into the drilling template -C- -arrow 2-.
-- Place the tensioning tool -1- on the special drill bit -2- and tighten.
-- Drill deep enough by hand until the tensioning tool -1- makes contact at the brass sleeve -arrows A-.
Tip
The special drill bit from the tool kit has the appropriate length (including the template) for the correct hole depth.
-- Loosen the locating bolt -2- slightly and then pivot the drilling template -1- to the side.
-- Insert the seat miller -2- into the tensioning tool -1- and lower the hole until the stop depth of the seat miller.
-- Stop depth of the miller.
Requirement
- -A- = stop depth at the miller.
-- To check the depression depth, insert the threaded bushing -1- in opposite direction, that is with the seat -A- being inserted first into the depression.

- It must be possible to insert the seating of the threaded bushing all the way into the depression.
-- Remove the shavings.
-- Pivot the drilling template -1- over the hole and secure with the locating bolt -2-.
-- Slide the appropriate brass sleeve -D- onto the thread tap -E- from behind -arrow 1- so that the thread tap cutting edges do not damage the brass sleeve.
-- Put some cutting oil on the tap.
-- Insert the thread tap together with the brass sleeve into the drilling template -C- -arrow 2-.
Tip
Initially the brass sleeve sticks out slightly from the drilling template, however the guide can still be used.
-- Place the tensioning tool -1- on the thread tap -2- and tighten.
-- Cut deep enough using the tap until the tensioning tool -1- makes contact at the brass sleeve -3- -A arrows-.
-- Clean shavings and cutting oil from the hole.
-- Turn the thread insert -1- onto the insertion tool -2- by hand -arrow- until slight resistance is felt.
Requirement
- The thread insert must not be turned completely onto the insertion tool, because the thread insert would be prematurely deformed.
-- Install the thread insert -1- by hand using the insertion tool -2- until it is flush with the wheel bearing housing -A- surface.
Requirement
- While doing so, the insertion tool -2- must not be inserted any farther into the thread insert -1- before the thread insert -1- is flush with the wheel bearing housing -A-.
- The thread insert must be completely covered by the wheel bearing housing, otherwise the secure fit of the brake caliper is not guaranteed.
-- Tension the tensioning tool on the insertion tool -2- and turn the insertion tool through the thread insert -1-.
- The installation resistance becomes noticeably greater.
- At the same time, the threads of the thread insert -1- are pressed into the wheel bearing housing -A-.
The thread repair is completed when the insertion tool -2- can be easily turned through the threaded bushing -1-.
