Electrical Check: Notes
The following test equipment and aids are required:
- Test box :VAG1598/20
- Connector test kit VW 1594
- Multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent)
- Pressure gauge :VAG1310A
- For test steps 11 to 14, lift the vehicle sufficiently so that the wheels are clear of the ground and rotate freely.
The test box :VAG1598/20 socket designations are identical to the terminal designations at the ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- and at the ABS control module harness connector

If the displayed values differ from the specified values, refer to the steps in the right-hand part of the table for repairing malfunctions.

WARNING:
Damage may be caused to the system if testing is not conducted in a proper manner. No terminals may be bridged except for the terminals connectors listed in the test table.
Test Prerequisites
- Test requirements are met SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND TROUBLESHOOTING, BOSCH 5, FROM MY 96
- The vehicle is lifted sufficiently so that the wheels are clear of the ground and rotate freely; no gear is engaged
- DTC memory of the ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- has been checked
