Fuel Line To Metering Pump, Bleeding

After working on the fuel delivery unit, the fuel supply line to the metering pump must be bled on equipment levels with a parking/auxiliary heater.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Procedure

The parking/auxiliary heater is switched off (the Metering Pump - V54- is not activated).

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Remove the right rear underbody trim panel. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

-- Connect the Suction Pump:VAS5226 to the compressed air.

-- Disconnect the fuel supply line -2- coming from the fuel tank at the metering pump -1-.

-- Connect the Suction Pump:VAS5226 with a suitable adapter from the Hand Vacuum Pump:VAS6213 to the fuel supply line and bleed it by extracting briefly.

-- Re-install the fuel supply line to the metering pump.

-- Switch on the parking/auxiliary heater and let it run approximately 10 minutes at full load.
