Outer Rear Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing, A6 Sedan: Removing

-- Move the front seats all the way forward.

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to REAR BENCH SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with rigid backrest or individual seat backrest

-- Remove the rear seat backrest. Refer to REAR SEAT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Version 1: press the seat belt guide trim -1- out of the retainers -2- and -3- using the Trim Removal Wedge:3409 and remove the trim.

-- Version 2: unclip the trim -1- for the seat belt guide from the catch -arrow A- and disengage from the C-pillar trim panel -arrow B-.

-- If installed, remove the side cushion. Refer to OVERVIEW - COVER AND CUSHION .

-- Remove the outer rear belt end fitting. Refer to OUTER REAR BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the D-pillar trim panels. Refer to D-Pillar Trim Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the C-pillar trim panels. Refer to C-Pillar Trim Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the rear shelf. Refer to Rear Shelf, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM , or LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

-- Push the rear shelf noise insulation to the side in the area of the seat belt.

-- If installed, unclip and then disengage the cover -2- from the seat belt guide -1- -arrow-.

-- Disconnect the connector -4-.

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Unclip the wiring harness in the area of the threaded connection for the three-point seat belt and push to the side.

-- Push the wheel housing noise insulation in the area of the threaded connection for the seat belt to the side.

-- Remove the suspension strut tower damper.

-- Loosen the bolt -1- (luggage compartment side) approximately seven turns.

-- Push the three-point seat belt -3- toward the rear -arrow-, disengage it from the mount and remove it.
