Remote Backrest Release, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to REAR BENCH SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM / LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

Release Lever, Removing:

-- Release the retainers -arrows- one at a time and remove the operating lever -1-.

Release Cable, Removing:

CAUTION:

Improper handling increases the risk of destroying the backrest remote release.

The idler pulley could fall out.

- When removing and installing the release cable, do not under any circumstances remove the idler roller from the coupling housing.

-- Open the cover and disengage the release cable support bracket -3- from the mount on the coupling housing -arrow-.

-- Disengage the release cable nipple -2- from the idler roller -1-.

-- Close the cover again and unclip the connector station from the retaining pin.

-- Unclip the release cable bracket -1 and 2- and remove the release cable -3- with the connector station.
