Lock Carrier, Removing And Installing, RS6, RS7 SPORTBACK: Removing
-- Remove the bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.
- Disconnect the connectors.
-- Disconnect the radiator fan connectors -2-.
-- Free up the wiring harness.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS 6208 underneath.
-- Lift the clamp and remove the coolant hose -3- from the radiator and allow the coolant to drain.
-- Loosen the hose clamp, and remove the coolant hose -4- from the radiator and let the coolant drain.
-- Free up the right coolant connections -1-.
-- Close the hose couplings with a clean plug from the Engine bung Set:VAS 6122 .
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose -2- from the Transmission Fluid Cooling Valve -N509- and let the coolant drain.
-- Close the hose couplings with a clean plug from the Engine bung Set:VAS 6122 .
-- Disconnect the connectors -3 and 4- and free up the wiring harness.
-- Lift the clamps -1 and 3- and remove the coolant hose -4- and coolant ventilation line -2- from the radiator and free it up.
-- Close the hose couplings with a clean plug from the Engine bung Set:VAS 6122 .
-- Disconnect the connectors on the lock carrier and free up the wiring harness.
-- Disconnect the washer fluid hose for the headlamp washer system and free it up.
-- Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING FROM CONDENSER .
-- Free up the latch release cable on the lock carrier, to do so remove the clamps.
-- Remove the latch and move it to the side with the release cables connected. Refer to LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Release the catches -1 and 3- and remove the clutch -2- from the lock carrier -4- and move it to the side with the release cables connected.
-- Disengage the mounting bracket with the operating lever release cable hook on the lock carrier and move to the side. Refer to MOUNTING BRACKET WITH HOOK OPERATING LEVER RELEASE CABLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt on the lower longitudinal member.
-- Have a second technician hold the lock carrier -2- and remove the bolts -1, 3 and 4-.
-- Remove the lock carrier forward with a second technician.
-- The following components must also be removed if the lock carrier is being replaced:
- Radiator with fan shroud. Refer to RADIATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Transmission Fluid Cooling Valve -N509-. Refer to COOLANT VALVES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Bumper carrier. Refer to BUMPER CARRIER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, RS6, RS7 SPORTBACK .
